Tough dog, didn't even flinch, or show any sign of injury. Had to roll back the skin to even see the wound. The Dog Doc patched him up and other than his embarrassment over his new haircut Max seems not to notice the wound at all.

Feelin 42
This remodel thing has me feeling my age. Here is a list of what I've accomplished so far followed by a list of To Do's left:
COMPLETED!:
- French Drain and Sump Pit to control drainage
- Empty Garage, Paint, new workbench and shelves, new back door
- Remove 12 ft sliding glass door from Family room
- divide Family room into Office/Bedroom and smaller Family Room (Frame walls,insulate, electrical, Drywall, etc.
- Add new 8 ft sliding glass door for Family Room and outside door for Office
- Paint ceilings (thanks Pop)
- repair fence and add two new gates
- Fix front yard
- Trim trees (from roof with 14' pole saw (ouch))
- Replace all appliances
- prep all walls for paint
- Upgrade/Replace Front Door and Front Storm Door.
- Paint all interior
- baseboards all interior
- new carpet
- new tile in office, and dining room
- Paint all previously painted woodwork (kitchen done and appliances installed!)
- Install french interior door for office/bedroom
- add closet for office/bedroom
- replace kitchen garbage disposal, sink fixture and plumbing
- replace kitchen lights
- add ceiling fan to MBR, Office and Family room
- Paint exterior/shingle siding on eaves
- replace front porch tile
- replace/repair front porch posts
- insulate attic
- Run speaker wire for Office and Family room 7.1 systems
- Get DirectTV sat installed and wire 5 rooms for sat
- Add water softener
- Add exhaust fan Master bath
- Add exhaust fan/light kitchen

- Deck/landscape/tool shed for backyard
- Fell one or two more trees

Holy Analog Batman!
The Antikythera Mechanism has been decoded. Two years ago, it was confirmed that the machine was capable of astronomical calculations. Now it appears there's just one more thing: 3D imaging of the machine made it possible to reconstruct the complete workings, and it turns out it was also capable of tracking the timing of the Olympic games. 3.0 Ready for Little Niagra!
Took the boys to Sulphur, OK and visited the Mineral Springs (stinky water) at Chickasaw National Park. 3.0 was not too thrilled about swimming in murky water (nor was I), but that didn't stop his big bro. They had a great time and had to be pulled kickin and screamin from the water.

Stroke, Stroke, Stroke
In 1930, Eric Sevareid and Walter Port embarked on a wild adventure when they launched a canoe at Fort Snelling on the Minnesota River and paddled over 2200 miles north to Hudson Bay. Sevareid later documented their story in the book Canoeing with the Cree. The book has since served as inspiration for young adventurers. Two such men, Colton Witte and Sean Bloomfield, departed on their own trek on April 28, 2008. The pair made it to Hudson Bay on June 17, 2008, in only 49 days (map). They aren’t the only ones to follow in Sevareid’s and Port’s footsteps – Scott Miller and Todd Foster made the same journey in 2005. (via MetaFilter.com)

Tom Waits in Tulsa, OK
Tom Waits may be an acquired taste. His original songs and traditional ballads both sung with that wonderful voice (like a chainsaw running on jet fuel, or described by one critic as sounding "like it was soaked in a vat of bourbon, left hanging in the smokehouse for a few months and then taken outside and run over with a car."[1]

Fields of Gold - Sungha Jung
This kid is 11 years old. Not his compositions or songs (except for a couple), but the fingerstyling is complex and pretty astounding. List of Songs/Vids.

Carry On My Wayward Son performed by a 10 year-old on some kind of organ. Plays all parts, but I think the drums were pre-recorded. Smattering of applause at the end is kinda sad..

Clunk the CRUNK!
A Sunday Tradition! Pop at Pop's! Three weeks in a row and a new inductee - Austin our quickest sprinter, barely beating 2.0 in a race to the fence and back at 28 seconds. 2.0 was close behind with 29 seconds. 3.0 held his own in one leg to the fence at 17 seconds! We love this place even though a bottle of pop is $1.99. about 10 times as much as I paid for the same thing at their age (ouch!)

John McCain Breaking Campaign Finance Law that HE WROTE!

Joe Sudbay of AmericaBlog and Reverend Lennox Yearwood delivered 32,000 signatures to the FEC, cosigning the complaint filed last Thursday against John McCain and his campaign. It took three reams of paper and 1,400 pages to print it all out.
This morning at a McCain event in Alexandria, McCain was introduced as a "hero" because of his work in campaign finance reform. Right. The guy who helped to write the law now doesn't want to obey it, just because there's nobody around to enforce it (thank you George W. Bush for gutting the FEC). The McCain campaign's defense is "Obama did the same thing," but that's a crock. John McCain applied for public financing. Obama never did. John McCain was accepted into the public financing system. Obama never was. The chairman of the FEC, David Mason, says McCain is therefore still in the system and bound by its limitations, but McCain is just ignoring him.
It goes to McCain's character. He believes the law is for someone else, not for him. He's chiding Obama for not agreeing to public financing, even as he's 4 million dollars over the $54 million spending cap imposed by the public financing system.
